UFO VPN is a brand new VPN service that only hit the market recently. What makes this particular service unique to most, is that it offers both free and paid services. In this review I’m going to check the software and do some speed comparisons to see where this VPN service ranks.
UFO VPN – UNLIMITED, BEST FREE VPN
Before we get started, if you’d like a more visual understanding on UFO VPN, feel free to watch my video review above.
Like most VPN services, the concept UFO VPN is much the same. You sign up for a free (or paid account), download the software to your device and you’re ready to go. The software is nice and basic which means its easy for the average user to navigate. Refer to the image below for example.
Once logged in to the software you will have a choice of server to pick from. The servers are separated into categories by region and country. You will have the choice to pick from free servers or paid servers. Obviously there is a bigger advantage to the paid servers, but we’ll get to that later. Once you’ve decided on your server, its just a matter of pressing the big “connect” button.

UFO VPN is available for download on the following devices:
Each device has its own unique software and is available across all accounts, free or paid. As already mentioned above, if you need help setting the UFO VPN software up, you can read their guide here.
FREE VS Paid – Advantages
When it comes to using a VPN I would never recommend using a “FREE VPN” for hardcore activity. This kind of activity might consist of streaming, torrenting, downloading etc… Whenever you use a FREE VPN you never know how private your information actually is. There is also the risk of IP leaks, stored logs and shared addresses. UFO VPN is no exception to this opinion of mine. So if your main reasoning for wanting a VPN is for privacy, then consider the paid options.
UFO VPN have the following pricing plans:
- 1 Month Plan – $7.99
- 6 Months Plan – 29.99
- 1 Year – $35.99 (Currently on special)
If you decide to go down the paid route, then UFO VPN offer the following advantages:
- Friendly customer service
- Fast VPN servers in 6 continents
- Safe file sharing
- No Ads
- Access to all apps & websites
- 5 devices at the same time on iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac
In addition you’ll also have access to “Netflix ready” servers. If you use Netflix, you’ll have access to different libraries of content from around the world.

Speed Test and Comparisons
Before you look at the speed test comparisons for UFO VPN, I just want to give a little disclaimer. My home connection (the connection where these tests were performed) isn’t the best. My house still only has ADSL2+ available so the speeds you see will reflect upon that. But keep in mind the main goal is to see how close the VPN can get to my original connection.
My original internet connection speed clocked in at just over 11mbps. This is without any VPN connected.
Next I ran the exact same speed test, but I connected to UFO VPN via their Australian server.
Lastly, I ran the test again but I picked a server that was not my residential country. This is a speed test whilst being connected to a server from the USA.
Overall my personal opinion of UFO VPN is that their a decent service, if you’re looking for a reliable VPN. I liked their speeds and I didn’t encounter much lag. The service is definitely more than capable of getting the job done. Please do remember to keep in mind about what I said above, regarding the use of FREE VPNs. If you intend on doing any hardcore activity, then sign up for a paid plan for extra security.
