Have you ever sat down to watch a movie or show but never really known what you want to watch? This happens all the time, often I’m in the mood but have no idea what I’m in the mood for. This is where the Open Directories Kodi Add-on comes in handy. If you don’t know what an open directory is, well basically its someones ‘giant server’ which is sitting somewhere out on the net and it has absolutely no security on it; allowing people to freely browse through it and download whatever files they wish. Think of it as being able to remotely browse through someones external HD, that’s probably the best comparison I can give you.
A few weeks ago I was browsing through the /r/OpenDirectories Reddit page (Such a good source if you’re looking for mass server dumps of Open Directories) and I came across someone posting this particular Kodi addon. I have to admit I kind of overlooked it because I personally already had a good source for getting movies. However a few days later I had someone tweet me, asking if I could help them install it. After initially giving it a crack I found out that the addon required an additional script to run properly. I decided it would just be easier if I made a tutorial and we could all check it out together.
So what does this Kodi addon actually do? Well as mentioned in the video above, it searches the net for open directories that contain movies, TV shows and music and scrapes them all into Kodi for you to easily stream and play. I have to admit that initially the interface for this particular addon can be a bit daunting and overall its quite messy, but if you can look beyond that then you have a nice little alternative way for finding, streaming and watching various different things in Kodi.
Please remember that like all free Kodi add-ons, the life span is never guaranteed. I’m not responsible if the creator of this particular add-on decides to stop updating it. If this video helped you, please remember to give it a thumbs up and subscribe!!
This add-on is not uploaded to a repository for Kodi so you will be required to download the zip files below and install them manually. As show in the video tutorial above.
MOVIES ARE NOT PLAYING:
If movies and TV shows are not playing for you then its possible that they’re being blocked in your location by your ISP. If this is the case then you will have to use Ivacy VPN – http://jkarakizi.com/product/ivacy-get-83-off-12-month-vpn/
